StreetCar History

StreetCar, the band, was started in the cold month of October 1999 over drinks in a dark corner of Nobles bar in Leith. The culprits were guitarist Jon and vocalist Susi Sue.

The idea was nothing new. Start a good rockin' covers band to bring a big live show to local pubs and clubs. Over the ensuing months, using bribery, threats and the the promise of fame and fortune, keyboard player Robin, drummer Mark, and bassist Scotty, (ex of Scotland's 'Blues'n'Trouble)' were persuaded to get involved with the project.

Within seven months, the new band had built and rehearsed a setlist of the best classic Rock, Soul, Blues and Pop, in the damp and cockroach ridden confines of Banana Row rehearsal rooms (Now demolished!).
In June 2000, Streetcar played their first live gig at McPhails in Leven in Fife.

The rest is....well....history. Here is a shot of the first lineup for your enjoyment...

Sadly, nothing lasts forever, and the membership of StreetCar was no exception. Scotty was the first to go, whisked off to Europe by a woman, but not before he had put StreetCar in touch with a very worthy successor by the name of Doddy, one time professional bassist, who was bandless at that moment.

Doddy auditioned the band at a live show in the legendary 'Nb's' bar and found it worthy of his talents. He even offered to buy the band a drink, thus endearing himself to one and all. Doddy has been a fantastic asset to the band ever since.

Next to go was the musical genius Robin, who left the band not long after Scotty to migrate to the north of Scotland. The band suspected that he too had been abducted by a woman, but no proof of this exists. Latterly, it has been rumoured that Robin has moved to Norway where he is still delighting audiences with his stunning finger work.

Robin was replaced by Al who was soon up to speed with all of StreetCar's splendid tunes, and continues to this day with the band, cranking out stunning sounds from his pair of Yamaha Tyros keyboards.

This is what StreetCar looks like now.....Scary or what !!
